So today, you guessed it, we had to get vaccinated for the flu virus. The shot didn't even hurt one bit, but we had to go to Viña to do it, and that was the part that took the most time. We had to wait our turn and everything, and they had to vaccinate over 120 missionaries. Poor nurses.
But this week was great. We had lots of stuff to do this week. Lots of good things happening in our sector. Lots of good people we've been finding. Life's been good. It's gotten a little colder this week, but there's no worries for us. Peter did not come to church this week. He had something to do in the morning, so he didn't come. There's always the next week. He really loves reading the Book of Mormon, so I know that he just need a little more time. We're just gonna keep going. This next week we've got interviews in our house. That means we've gotta clean. I'll let you know how that goes. Miss you all!

So this week has been a great week. We've been doing lots of stuff with family history. We are really excited to help everyone with their family history, in fact I want to invite all of you to do your family history, because it's great.
Peter came to church this week! He really liked it. He was participating in the class and everything. I know it's hard for him because he doesn't speak a lot of spanish, being from Haiti and all, but he really enjoyed church. He's got a baptismal date, so I'll keep you guys posted. Things in Chile are great. I just did all of the stuff for my last visa extension. That means I don't have a lot of time left in the mission, but that's ok. The time has really flown by. It's been getting a little cold here, but we keep going to keep warm. I miss all you guys! Our DVD broke, so we used the TV in the Chaple to watch the training videos This week was really great. We've got so many great things happening in our zone. First of all, we only had one change in the zone, so we are basically the same. That makes it a lot easier to keep working. We are really happy to all be together again in Quilpue.
We are really motivated from Conference. We are really excited to see how all of the changes take effect. We also are really motivated by a talk we read. I have no idea what it's called in English, but in Spanish it reads, "Un Misionero Desafiante y Testificador". I really think that that talk has changed my mission. It explains the way that we have to testify about the Restored Church. If we testify with power, the people will hear us. We brought another Haitian to church. His name is Peter. He really liked it. He's going to come the next week. We are really excited for everything this transfer. So this week was really great. We had Zone Conference with Achupallas, and that means that I got to see 2 past companions, Elder Fausett and Elder Villanueva. I also got to see some really good friends, like Elder Bruderer and Elder Kwaleck. It was really fun, and we did lots of great stuff.
We also had a Ward Family Night. A lot of people actually came this one. It was great because we talked about General Conference, and everyone is excited for that. We played some great games and stuff. We've been finding a lot of haitians lately. For those of you that aren't familiar with the sitiuation here in Chile, there are a lot of haitians that are immigrating here. They love to talk to the missionaries, but they usually don't speak a lot of Spanish. That was the case with Hendel. He wanted to listen to us, but he didn't speak a lot of Spanish. We had to teach him in English, which was a little hard for my companion Elder Lapaz, because he's from Uruguay. But we did it and he liked the lesson. He was going to come to church, but his work called him in at the last moment. We also found another haitian, Peter. He speaks a lot more Spanish, so we're thinking about teaching Peter and Hendel together. But life's great here. I'm loving Chile. I guess that's all for this week. We really had a crazy week this week.
So first of all, for those of you who didn't know, our pipes were clogged for like 3 weeks. The water didn't drain through them, and is was overflowing. But finally this week we fixed it! We spent all of one morning trying to fix it. All we had was a snake and a bamboo stick, but we did it! We're basically plumbers now, although I don't think I would like to be a plumber. Apart from that, we spent a lot of time this week putting our plan to help the members invite people to general conference. We came up with a calendar, and we proposed it to the ward council. They supported us, and now every member has one. It really helped me understand the importance of the ward council, because it would have taken us a long time to make sure that everyone had one with out them. Now all we have to do is verify how they are doing with that. We've got a lot of support on this. We had 5 people commit to come to church this week, but everyone had something to do. Jimmy had to go to Santiago, Enzo and Javiera had to take someone to the hospital, and a few other things. I guess there's always going to be opposition. We'll just keep working. I guess that's all. Miss you guys! So this week was pretty normal, I guess you could call it.
So this week in the district meeting, for my training I wanted to so a demonstration with two magnets and dirt. The purpose was to show that it's much more effective to find a magnet buried in dirt with another magnet, and compare that with tools like the Book of Mormon in finding. The first problem was that I couldn't find any magnets. We asked in a lot of places, but there were no magnets. I just decided to draw it on the board. I'm not an artist or anything, so my district couldn't tell what it was. I hope it didn't distract from the Spirit. We are so excited for General Conference. We've got the goal to help every member in our ward to find someone to bring to conference. We know that the Lord will help us. We're also going to invited lots of investigators to general conference. We'll let you guys know how it goes. This week all of the district leaders went to Viña to a meeting called Leadership Council. It was really fun to see all of my old friends. 3 of the leaders there were in my old zone, so we had a little zone reunion. I got to see my old companion, Elder Villanueva.
We learned this week that we need to look for people that want to change their lives, that want to hear our message. We don't need to try to convince people that we're right, because that doesn't work most of the time. I really felt that when we tried to do that this week, we felt a greater love for the people. Their problems began to matter to me. We talked with one lady, and her husband had died about 20 years ago. I felt sad for here, but then I felt the desire to share that we can see our loved ones again after this life. It was a great experience. I miss all you guys. I hope you're doing great where ever you are. Hello, long time
I'd just like to let you know that we survived transfers. I had to go to Viña to pick up my new companion, Elder Lapaz. He is from Uruguay, and is the first companion that I've had from that part of the world. He is a great missionary, and we are both learning together. We had an investigator that came to church. Her name is Marcela, and she really liked it. She said the next week she'll bring her daughter. I guess that's all. Miss you all. So to keep things short, we got transfers this week. Elder Villanueva is going to Achupallas and he will be a district leader there. I'm going to stay here, but I'll be training a new missionary! This will be my third time training a new missionary. I'm actually really excited.
It's been pretty hard to get people to come to church, but this next week one of our investigators, Marcela, said that she wants to come to church. We are really excited for her, and we'll do everything to help here. She's got a daughter that's 8 years old, and I just know she'll love it in the Primary. Well, I guess that's it. miss you guys. This week was pretty good. We had zone conferences, and for some reason the Asistents planned a saftey training. They taught us all how to do CPR, and we all had to practice in front of everyone. It was pretty fun, just it took a while.
I heard that there's a heat wave coming to Chile. I don't know if that's true, but it has been pretty warm this week. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'll keep you all updated on transfers. We don't know what'll happen, but you'll be the first to know. Miss you all! |
