So this week we got transfers, and I'm going to a place called Quilpue. It's not too far away from Villa Alemana Oeste, so I'll probably see some of my friends here again. Still, it's always sad to leave. I guess we'll see what the Lord has in store for me there.
This week was pretty great. We were able to get Shadrach and Gabenley (our haitian friends) to go to a baptism of another Haitian! That was great because he was able to talk to them in French or Creol, whatever they speak, so that they could understand. We also invited Bryon to a ward party, and he came! From what I could tell, he really enjoyed it. Then on Sunday, Bryon and Gabenley both came to church. I really think that they're gonna get baptized. Since it's summer there's been a lot of fires. It seems like everyday now we look out the window and see a fire or smoke or something. We actually found a place that was burned by a fire, and now it looks like a different world. Oh, and also a nice family in our ward made us a Thanksgiving feast. That was really nice of them.

So this week was a great week. It was the 2nd to last week of this transfer, so I'll probably be moving areas this next week. I guess we'll see where the Lord takes me.
So first, a funny story. We went to visit Shadrach, our Hatian investigator, and the first thing he said to us when we got there was, "Ok, this Sunday I can't go to church, I have to go to Santiago." So we responded, "Um, ok?" But then he said, "But this is my friend, and he will go to church with you." We almost said that it doesn't really work like that, but then we started talking to his friend, Gabenley, and he is actually really interested in the church. He said, "I want to learn more about you guys, because I have never heard of you before." And he came to church the next day. He really enjoyed it. We also had 2 more investigators at church, both of which were miracles too. We've really seen the Lord preparing the hearts of the people to receive us. I can't wait to keep working and see what else he has in store for us. There are also a lot of puppies now. I guess that's all. Well, we had Stake Conference this week. It was really great. It reminded me of a little General Conference, but I guess that's the point. Well, anyway, we invited one of our Haitian investigators to come to church, and he said that he would go! The only problem was that because it was Stake Conference, it was farther away. But we were able to find a member with a car that helped us, so Shadrach (that's his name) was able to church.
As for the interviews in our house, we've been saved for another week. President won't be passing by this week, so I guess that just gives us more time to clean, or not clean, depending how you look at it. I guess we'll see. I guess that's it. Miss you guys! So things have been pretty great this week. We've been working a lot with Gonzalo this week helping him to integrate more in the church. Also, in the next couple weeks we're going to have interview in our houses by the Mission President. I guess that means we have to clean now!
So this week we found a miracle. His name is Luis. We found him, and he said he wanted to got to church and get baptized. We thought he was joking, but the we found him waiting for us outside of his house on Sunday morning. I guess he really wanted to go to church. He said he really liked it and that he wants to come next week. I watched a few other people make bread this week, so I guess I'm basically an expert now. I've just gotta keep practicing. I guess that's it. Miss you guys. We are really excited because Gonzalo made the decision to be baptized this week. We are so happy for him. We can't wait to see how he progresses in the church. I'll send some photos of that.
Well, that was basically our biggest event this week. We've been working really hard to try and find new investigators so we can baptize them also. We're gonna keep working! It's been getting a little hot here, but that's ok, not too hot. We're really excited to be on a mission. I guess it's gettting a lot hotter here. People keep telling me that it gets hot here. I have to agree with them, it is hot, but not anything like Las Vegas. Still, the heat is not very comfortable in a shirt and tie.
Somethings that happened this week, well first of all Gonzalo has a baptismal date for the 28th of October. He's completely changed and now he only wants to serve the Lord. We are really excited for him. We've really learned a lot about the power of the Book of Mormon. It's a really good read, I would recommend it to everyone. Well, I guess that's all. I have one more month here in Las Americas, and I'm going to make the best of it. I miss you guys! First of all, we had our P-Day today because our Mission President had a conference in Argentina, so we had to change our P-Day to today. I guess it makes sense in someone's mind, I don't really understand, but that's ok.
So I'm staying in Las Americas. I will complete 6 months here, and probably in 6 more week I will leave. I really love it here. There was only one change in the zone. Hermana McDonough went to Achupallas. Lets have a moment of silence for her. We've been having a pretty good time here. We've been finding really good people. Our good friend Gonzalo came to church this week. He's really excited to be baptized. I've been practicing my bread making skills. I have to say they are improving. I hope I can one day make it like the Chileans. I guess that's all. Until next week. I really thought it would start getting warmer, with it being spring and all here. But no, it's just been as cloudy as ever. It has been getting warmer, but then it just rains again, I don't really know what to think.
Anyway, in our zone this week, the zone leader came up with a game to I guess inspire us to work harder or something, I don't really know, but they assigned each missionary in the zone a super hero. I was Iron Man, which is great because I love Iron Man. Some other ones that I thought were funny were: Elder Orellana - Magneto (I thought he was a villian, but whatever), Elder Qwalic - Frozone (He's white), and Sister Sanchez - Hulk (Um yeah, I guess that makes sense). The point of the game was that every companionship had to come up with a scripture and a challenge for their super heroes. I found Alma 10:4-5 to describe Iron Man, and I think I pretty much nailed it. But anyway, that was pretty fun. As for the bread report, this past week I made bread again. It looked more like bread this time, but I put too much yeast in it so it had a little weird taste. But we're progressing, that's all that matters. We're gonna try again today. Well I guess thats all for this week. Until the next one. I just want all of you to know I love conference! I know that everyone one of you that watched with me knows the beauty of conference. For those of you that didn't watch conference, repent! Haha just kidding, but seriously, it was good, you should watch it.
I really liked how there were so many of even the Apostles that took President Monson's challenge to obtain a greater testimony of the Book of Mormon. I've been studying a lot about the the power of the Book of Mormon, and I've come to the conclusion that it is even more important for us as missionaries. If these people can't obtain testimony of the Book of Mormon, there is no way they will be converted to the Gospel. It should be the center of everything that we do. Im really excited for this week to apply the things I learned in conference. I hope that you all do the same. Until next week. So this was a good week. This week was filled of lots of food and stuff, because of the Fiestas. Last Monday a member invited us to her house to eat lunch. We had all of the stuff you should have for the 18th of September. We had: mote con huesillo (peach juice with wheat kernels and a rehydrated peach), empanadas, choripan (chorizo and bread with pebre, which is like a dip made of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and other stuff), and grilled meat. It was really good.
Also some other good news, I finally learned how to make bread! I'm going to try it out later today, so I'll let you guys know how it goes. I feel like if I can learn how to do it good, I'll be a millionaire in the States. We found this new guy named Fabian this week. It turns out he was going to Instituite and he really likes it! We are going to be teaching him a lot more. Well, I guess that's all for now. Until next week! |
