Zone Conference

So this week was really great. We had Zone Conference with Achupallas, and that means that I got to see 2 past companions, Elder Fausett and Elder Villanueva. I also got to see some really good friends, like Elder Bruderer and Elder Kwaleck. It was really fun, and we did lots of great stuff.

We also had a Ward Family Night. A lot of people actually came this one. It was great because we talked about General Conference, and everyone is excited for that. We played some great games and stuff.

We've been finding a lot of haitians lately. For those of you that aren't familiar with the sitiuation here in Chile, there are a lot of haitians that are immigrating here. They love to talk to the missionaries, but they usually don't speak a lot of Spanish. That was the case with Hendel. He wanted to listen to us, but he didn't speak a lot of Spanish. We had to teach him in English, which was a little hard for my companion Elder Lapaz, because he's from Uruguay. But we did it and he liked the lesson. He was going to come to church, but his work called him in at the last moment. We also found another haitian, Peter. He speaks a lot more Spanish, so we're thinking about teaching Peter and Hendel together. But life's great here. I'm loving Chile. I guess that's all for this week.

It was a crazy week

We really had a crazy week this week.

So first of all, for those of you who didn't know, our pipes were clogged for like 3 weeks. The water didn't drain through them, and is was overflowing. But finally this week we fixed it! We spent all of one morning trying to fix it. All we had was a snake and a bamboo stick, but we did it! We're basically plumbers now, although I don't think I would like to be a plumber.

Apart from that, we spent a lot of time this week putting our plan to help the members invite people to general conference. We came up with a calendar, and we proposed it to the ward council. They supported us, and now every member has one. It really helped me understand the importance of the ward council, because it would have taken us a long time to make sure that everyone had one with out them. Now all we have to do is verify how they are doing with that. We've got a lot of support on this.

We had 5 people commit to come to church this week, but everyone had something to do. Jimmy had to go to Santiago, Enzo and Javiera had to take someone to the hospital, and a few other things. I guess there's always going to be opposition. We'll just keep working. I guess that's all. Miss you guys!

A Normal Week I Guess

So this week was pretty normal, I guess you could call it.

So this week in the district meeting, for my training I wanted to so a demonstration with two magnets and dirt. The purpose was to show that it's much more effective to find a magnet buried in dirt with another magnet, and compare that with tools like the Book of Mormon in finding. The first problem was that I couldn't find any magnets. We asked in a lot of places, but there were no magnets. I just decided to draw it on the board. I'm not an artist or anything, so my district couldn't tell what it was. I hope it didn't distract from the Spirit.

We are so excited for General Conference. We've got the goal to help every member in our ward to find someone to bring to conference. We know that the Lord will help us. We're also going to invited lots of investigators to general conference. We'll let you guys know how it goes.

Leadership Council

This week all of the district leaders went to Viña to a meeting called Leadership Council. It was really fun to see all of my old friends. 3 of the leaders there were in my old zone, so we had a little zone reunion. I got to see my old companion, Elder Villanueva.

We learned this week that we need to look for people that want to change their lives, that want to hear our message. We don't need to try to convince people that we're right, because that doesn't work most of the time. I really felt that when we tried to do that this week, we felt a greater love for the people. Their problems began to matter to me. We talked with one lady, and her husband had died about 20 years ago. I felt sad for here, but then I felt the desire to share that we can see our loved ones again after this life. It was a great experience.

I miss all you guys. I hope you're doing great where ever you are.
